4 Sebastian's Ice Cream

In times like this that you wouldn't want to go out because of the scorching heat brought by the summer season, I imagine myself getting a scoop of my favorite ice cream.

L: Chocoholics Anonymous R: Up All Night

Chocoholics Anonymous is one of their best sellers. Rich chocolate ice cream with a thick fudge with dark chocolate chunks.

Up All Night. This one's my favorite. I love coffee-flavored ice cream. This one's has espresso fudge swirl and coffee-chocolate chunks.

I soooper love these!! Just praises!!

11 Dessert Overload in Maitre Chocolatier

It was the night of my Grumpy's birthday and was the last leg of his day. And at the same time, I was really craving and drooling to have sweets, like cakes, ice cream or anything that's really, really sweet. There's just something in me that wants to be overloaded with chocolates and sweets. After dinner, we went to Maitre Chocolatier. The place is really nice. This is not new to Cebu since this has been here for quite sometime already. If you want chocolate on breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is the place to be. This place offers a wide array of high quality, European chocolate brands and innovative culinary creations. The desserts are based on well-known European and well - they are really pricey too. But they all tastes sooooo good. Most of their food are soaked in real imported chocolate brands like ferrero rocher, lindt, toblerone, frey and ritter sports chocolate.

Maitre Chocolatier interiors are posh and romantic - that's why I love this place. Perfect for dates with your special someone.

And here's what we got for ourselves:

Maitre Golden Euphoria - Ferrero Hazelnut Crunch Cake
Tempting chocolate hazelnut mousse on a velvety chocolate
sponge cake with the enchanting Ferrero hazelnut
Php 218/slice ; Php 1,850 whole

Angel's Confection - Nutelle Mousse Cake
Experience the real taste of Ferrero Nutella formed into delicate
and silky mousse cake topped with golden Nutella from heaven
Php 176/slice
Iced-blended Classic Chocolate
Php 150
My own rating:

Food: 5 out ot 5
Service: 5 out of 5
Place: 5 out of 5
Value: 5 out f 5

Notice that I am rating the value for money 5 out 5 eventhough they're a bit-pricey, I think, its all worth it, that's why.

Will definitely visit their branch here in Manila, too.

Cheers!

0 Late Post: My Fudge Experience

Today is a low day for me and while I was trying to browse thru my Tumblr photos, I came across with the food we had when I was still in Cebu. At the Fudge Restaurant. This is a pastry boutique in Cebu. Sinfully delicious desserts from breakfast until dinner. This only branch is located in AS Fortuna in Cebu. Not hard to find, in fact, most of Cebu cab drivers knows this place. Not your typical type of restaurant because this is relatively small which I think, can only accommodate 20-30 customers only. Crews, including their Security Guard were friendly. When I was having a dinner there, I even watched the guard feeding a cat staying near the door as if guarding the place too. LOL! Too bad I wasn't able to take a picture of the guard cat.

This is one place which I will definitely visit again once I am given a chance to visit Cebu again. =)

0 It's National Chocolate Cake Day!

Happy National Chocolate Cake day!! This is also my 100th post. My FB friend told me on what's the reason to celebrate today. January 27 (US time) is National Chocolate Cake day! Just like what I did when it was the national whipped cream day, I'm making a simple chocolate cake today. It's chocolate coffee cake!

No-bake Chocolate Truffle Cake (Just chocolate, cream and coffee!)

Ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Parchment paper
  • Loaf pans
  • Chocolate, well-chopped ( I used Hershey's)
  • Whipped cream (also knows as heavy cream)
  • Instant coffee (I used Nescafe 3-1, since I don't have an espresso)
  • Iodized salt
  • Cocoa power
Preparations:
  • Lightly butter your loaf pan and line in your parchment paper. This is to make sure that the surface of your cake will be nice and will look great. Set aside.
  • Melt your chocolate in a double broiler (I used a regular kaserola topped with smaller kaserola) in a very low heat.
  • While your chocolate is melting, on another medium pan, heat the cream, pour in your coffee (I just used almost 1 teaspoon to avoid the bitter taste). Slowly stir with your iodized salt.
  • When everything comes together smoothly, mix the melted chocolate into your hot cream. Keep on stirring until all component's aren't at all separate.
  • Pour into your prepared loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil (if you have). Refrigerate until chilled.
  • When ready to serve, remove from the pan, dust with a bit of cocoa powder.
  • Lastly, enjoy!!
By the way, you can also serve this with vanila ice cream on top or chops of almonds!

I just grabbed a photo online because, I think, mine is not as deliciously-looking like this. Haha!

That's it! Happy National Chocolate Cake day!!

0 Jan. 05, 2012 : National Whipped Cream Day

Really? I didn't know there is such thing as National Whipped Cream Day. Haha. Well, today is the allegedly the National Whipped Cream Day according to here: http://www.longislandpress.com/2012/01/05/national-whipped-cream-day-today/

I am not that familiar with whipped cream. My mom only uses Nestle all purpose cream everytime she makes my favorite buko salad. Hehe. And then, when I got married and being on a work-from-home setup, I get to stay at home the whole day working online and thinking what to prepare for my husband. Since we still live in a small apartment and we can't afford to buy a La Germania, I searched for no-bake goodies online. I found the toblerone ice cream cake. Find it really interesting because we both love toblerone and it seems to be really easy to make. One thing I needed was an electric mixer. So we got one, Kyowa for Php595 only. This is the cheapest we found at SM. lol

Ingredients are eggs, powdered sugar, toblerone and what else, whipped cream!!

I planned to make this for our noche buena. It was really easy and sooo delicious. I must say, it was a success. I was able to finish it in 45mins. It should've been 30mins only but since its my first time, I was really careful on the ingredients. After making it, I have to freeze it for at least 6hrs.

I wasn't able to take a picture of it. But here what it looks like. Photo credits to Stone Soup. Thanks!

Today that its National Whipped Cream Day, am gonna celebrate this day by making another again. This time, as a gift to a friend.

You, how will you celebrate the National Whipped Cream Day?

Life goes on. After the storm in my life, I think, I deserve some more lovin'!

We got out blushing cupcakes in SM The Block. I wanted to try this even before but my husband always says next time. But this time, he got no choice. So, we went in. The colors were awesome. Looks delicious.
This one dozen of cupcakes cost us merely Php600 ++. Too much for a cup cake, right. But it's all worth it. I should come back, soon!

0 Starbucks Cake Pops

I stayed in Cebu for 2yrs and never saw one in any Starbucks there. When I got back, when me and my husband were in SM Manila, I saw these. Got me excited. But we didn’t bother to buy since I was too busy, dying to buy their ice cream. But when I got back after a week, I saw some students have these in their tables with their coffee. So, I went inside the store and got myself these tiny cutie cakes.
The cake pops come in three flavors, Birthday Cake, Rocky Road, and Tiramisu. They are 200 calories each.. hmmm..
If you want to try one I would recommend Birthday Cake! It tastes similar to confetti cake, which is by far my favorite type of cake! Rocky Road tastes just like plain chocolate cake (disappointed). Tiramisu tastes like vanilla bean and not much else.
I was expecting the cake to be more like actual cake? I know that doesn’t make much sense, but the cake inside these were very moist! I’m not complaining, but it didn’t really have a cake texture, almost like a mushy pastry texture. Hard to explain!
Lastly I would have liked to see them clean off the sticks from the excess coating. This would have given them a more professional look. The whole thing looks messy and rushed.

0 On Cravings & Obsessions

Whenever I go to Starbucks, I just order my hot white chocolate mocha but when I saw a bannoffee pie being displayed, it caught my attention. Same with CBTL’s bannoffee pie, this one’s delicious too. Looks very yummy, intimidating and super fattening.
So, what’s inside a bannoffee pie? Sliced bananas with toffee sauce on a bed of crushed and sweetened graham crackers. The combination is a real treat to the plate. The crust is not so sweet. This goes very well with black coffee but I ordered a white chocolate mocha. Talking about chocolate overload!!

0 The Starbucks Ice Cream

Ever since I moved back here in Manila, I stopped going to Starbucks daily. Simply because, its not like Cebu that Starbucks is just 10-15mins away for a Php50-60 cab fare. Here, yeah, its also 10-15mins away from our house (should be) but because of traffic, it’ll become 30mins to 1hr for Php100-150 cab fare. Not practical, right? Well, aside from I think, I lost my cravings now with their coffee. This is also one of the perks of working from home. The feeling is not actually working and the urge on carrying the prestigious Starbucks cup is gone.
I remember, when I told my husband that I wanna go to Starbucks, I didn’t actually want to have coffee. He brought me to one of their stores. There, I didn’t order anything. Even he’s pushing me to get a coffee, I didn’t. I wanna go there to just check the place. I wanna check if there’s a difference in their stores in Manila and Cebu.. LoL I’ll write about my observations about this topic next time.
But, last week, I’ve been to Starbucks I think twice. I was there, not to have coffee but to get their ice cream!! Yes, ice cream. This is not actually in any of their stores yet, not even a single barista talked about it. I discovered it, when I saw a barista holding a cup with ice cream. I asked him if its an ice cream and he said it’s a Starbucks ice cream but its not for sale. Hmm.. I asked him if he can sell it to me so I can taste it. He refused but he referred me to his manager. After 10mins of utilizing my convincing powers, the manager gave in. She gave me the pint of ice cream, free! I was so happy. When I got home, OMG! It is heavenly delicious. I got the coffee flavor. Husband also loved it. When we opened it, we finished it also right where we started it. LoL
Then, I went there again hoping to see the manager and I will ask her again for the ice cream. I am willing to pay!! After sometime of looking around, I finally spotted her in the store. I waved at her and she approached me. I told her that the ice cream is soo delicious and I came back to ask if she can sell one for me. She told me that its not for sale. She told me that she can give me another pint and but would be the last. I was soo happy! I told her, I am willing to pay, but she refused. So, I got my second pint. I got the java chip frappuccino flavor.
Thank you to the manager who gave me the 2 pints of ice cream. I soo love you!! I will definitely get more of these once available here. First in line will be their strawberries and cream ice cream. Ciao!

Anyway, I opened my Twitter and the rest is total happiness for me.

My love for Toblerone made me decide to join this blog contest. I honestly appreciate chocolates more when they were given to me. Regardless if from a friend, family or somebody else. I am excited for my prize. 1 box of Toblerone!! Woo hoo!
